Lion, English name Lion, is a mammal. The lion’s scientific name is Panthera Leo. It has a large body size. On par with the tiger It is the largest animal after the Siberian tiger. The body is brown, without stripes. Fully grown males have a long necklace of fur. The tip of the tail is a tassel. They like to live in groups in open fields. Their weight is about 250 kilograms. Females are smaller. Often serves to hunt prey. They are native to Africa and India. They have a lifespan of 10 – 14 years. Lions in captivity can live up to 20 years.
Lions are the only animals that show differences between males. Females clearly have different special roles in the herd. Females are hunters because they have no annoying mane and are difficult to camouflage and the heat they have to chase after their prey.
The most distinctive feature of both sexes of lions is the tuft of fur at the tip of the tail. The tuft of fur at the tip of the tail begins to appear at 7 months of age.
